Standing Up for Government

What kind of Massachusetts do we want?  It's up to us to reconnect the dots between the things we care about in our communities and the role that an adequately supported and properly focused government plays in achieving shared goals and aspirations.

It is time to fight back, to affirm the essential connection between the health of our public sector and the success of our private economy. We must make the case that our quality of life is linked directly to how well or poorly we maintain and adapt the public systems, structures, and services we have built up over generations....calling government to live up to its best principles has a strong tradition in progressive activism.  [Full Article: The American Prospect]

Fitchburg Residents learned about Civic Engagement and the current State Budget

Fitchburg. On Wednesday July 15th members of the Cleghorn Neighborhood Center gathered together for a ONE Massachusetts session about the current state fiscal crisis and ways on how to better communicate about government.

In the two hour Spanish session the members of the Center learned about the decisions that have put us in our current state fiscal crisis that have jeopardized our ability to create and maintain the public structures we all value and rely on.
